Schools & communities

Undercurrent is dedicated to a participant led approach in all community outreach programmes, ensuring workshops, seminars and community based collaborations uniquely cater to the individuals taking part.

Workshops are inclusive and fun, focusing on non-verbal communication and the joy of expression through movement, image and sound. Structured games and improvisations are combined with guided meditations that aim to support a deepening awareness both of our inner experience as well as building a sense of connectivity within the group.

Through a gentle approach, that centres on depth of experience rather than outward goals, we aim to encourage the celebration of difference and instil the necessary confidence to challenge and be challenged towards extending our unique movement vocabularies, to take risks and to play and connect with full engagement.

Community & school outreach form an integral part of Wilson’s practice and research. An invited speaker at collaborative practice seminars, Wilson regularly mentors artists for Roscommon and Leitrim County Council arts initiatives and works as a guest facilitator nationally and locally for galleries, community groups and schools including The Ark, The Model Arts and IMMA. With a commitment to long term community engagements Wilson facilitates residencies throughout the year. She is also a lead artist for the Irish Teacher Artist Partnership design team and continues to work with the department of Education developing training for teachers and artists nationally and in conjunction with European partners.
