Marketa Formanova is originally from Czech Republic where she studied at the Duncan Centre Dance Conservatoire, Prague in 1999-2002.
Since she came to Ireland in 2006, she has worked as a dancer as well as theatre artist, choreographer, tutor and arts facilitator. Her main projects include: Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, Luna Nua Theatre Company and Tulips and Oysters Cross Arts Theatre. She is co-founder of cross arts company Hereinafter Performance (2012). This company performs live work for theatres, galleries and site specifics, often in collaboration with musicians, actors and visual artists in North-West of Ireland.
Marketa is also lecturer of the Movement in Performing Arts, IT Sligo. Her professional practice has involved facilitation of visual art and dance workshops for children and adults in The Model Art Gallery, The Youth Theatre in Sligo and in The Dock Art Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon. She was involved to lead Irish Youth Theatre group and create dance workshop in the International Festival of Creativity for young people with and without handicap (2013) in Slovakia.
In 2016, Marketa graduated in the MA Contemporary Dance Performance at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in University of Limerick. The space relationship and movement explorations are equally important in her individual dance practice development.
